Description: The somatodendritic compartment was enriched for transcripts with post-synaptic functions as well as for certain nuclear non-coding RNAs such as 7SK. We found 7SK relatively more abundant in the somatodendritic compartment, but also detectable in motor axons, which we validated by qPCR (see Figure 8A). In our motoneuron dataset we found 7SK more abundant in the somatodendritic compared to the axonal cytoplasm in line with its nuclear function in transcriptional regulation (33).
